 Norwegian Forest Cat - giant with lynx tufts on the ears is the official cat of Norway and embodies the harsh and beautiful nature of the country. These wonderful creatures are incredibly gentle and affectionate. They love affection, give a warm and easy to get along with people and other animals.

  The story of the Norwegian Forest Cats is deeply rooted in antiquity. Norwegian legends tell of the wonderful beast with the look of a wolf and a huge bushy tail, who traveled on the ships with the valiant Vikings. In 1912, the Norwegian Forest Cat became the hero of the children's book. Olaf Gulbransson colorfully described the cat in his autobiography, published around 1910. 

  Before 1938, about the breed Norwegian forest cats is not mentioned in any official feline sources. About these cats forgot until the 70s of the 20th century, when the terrible events of the past moved the world wars, and people have returned to a quiet life in the family home, and recalled what comforts presence near furry, gentle creature, with all his heart tied to owners.

Currently, the Norwegian Forest Cats are very popular in Europe and are represented in almost all countries of the world. They attract attention and arouse interest in any cat shows.

Predictions about the future of these big cats in Europe have already come true: in European exhibitions of cats, this breed ranks first in the rankings on the number of exposed cats.

In Russia, the number of this beautiful cats is small, but interest in them is growing, and we are confident that in the near future on the Russian cat shows can be seen all variety of this unique breed, and not isolated instances, as at present.

  In our country Norwegian Forest Cats is often confused with the Maine Coon and Siberian cats. These breeds differ from each other in the first place, the shape of the head and profile, as can be seen, if you see of worthy representatives of each breed.

 Norwegian forest are very attached to their owners and are willing to actively participate in all its activities, accompanied everywhere, it is a cat companion. They love to walk in the air.

 These cats are very sociable and easily find contact as with other animals and children. They are not aggressive and will not quarrel to succeed, if dissatisfied with something. 

  Norwegian Forest Cats has long, strongly boned, muscular body. From their ancestors, who grew up in the harsh climate, Norwegian Forest inherited "bilayer" long, having a waterproof and water-repellent properties, coat. Thanks to their coat, they seem even larger. Males are larger females. An adult male weighs 8-9 kg, female a little bit less, but the maximum weight and size, as well as all the big cats, Norwegian Forest Cats to reach 3-4 years. The ears are large, with brushes; fluffy tail.

Body

The medium to large sized cat has a solid, elongated body with a massive bone structure. 
The legs are long and muscular, the hind legs are higher than the front legs, the paws are 
broad and round, with tufts between the toes. 
The tail is very long (at least as long as the body) and bushy.

Head

The head has the shape of an equilateral triangle with a long, straight profile. 
The chin is firm.

Ears The ears are very large with a broad base and high on the head so that the outer line of the 
ears runs in a straight line over the cheeks. They have lynx-tufts and have ear furnishing.
Eyes The eyes are large, open and slightly oval. 
Eye colour shall be even and corresponds to the coat colour.
Coat

The coat is of medium length. The woolly undercoat is covered by long, glossy, firm and 
water repellent hair. The top coat covers the back, the flanks and the top of the tail completely. 
The under side of the body and the back of the hind legs have only undercoat. 
A long frill, a triangular-shaped beard hanging down from the cheeks and "knickerbockers"
on the hind legs complete the appearance.

Colour varieties

The colours chocolate and cinnamon, as well as their dilution (lilac and fawn) are not recognized
in any combinations (bicolour, tricolour, tabby). The pointed pattern is also not recognized. 
All other colours and patterns are recognized. Any amount of white is permitted. The description

Kittens for Sale!
